Microsoft has released the Windows 11 May 2025 Update, designated as KB5055627, introducing a suite of new features and enhancements aimed at improving user experience and system performance. This optional, non-security preview update is available for Windows 11 version 24H2 and updates the OS to build 26100.3915.

A significant highlight of this update is the integration of advanced AI capabilities, particularly for Copilot+ PCs. The new “Recall” feature allows users to search and retrieve previously accessed content across various applications and documents, enhancing productivity and information management. Additionally, “Click to Do” introduces intelligent text actions, enabling users to perform quick tasks directly from selected text, such as summarizing or rewriting content using on-device AI models.

The update also brings improvements to File Explorer, including pivot-based curated views on the Home tab, facilitating quicker access to Microsoft 365 content. Performance enhancements have been made to ensure a more responsive and fluid user experience.

Other notable enhancements include:

  • Refinements to Windows Search, incorporating semantic indexing for more accurate results.
  • Introduction of interactive widgets and lock-screen widgets, providing users with customizable information at a glance.
  • Various fixes addressing issues in File Explorer, taskbar functionality, and system stability.

Users interested in exploring these new features can manually install the KB5055627 update by navigating to Settings > Windows Update and selecting “Check for updates.” As this is an optional preview update, it will not install automatically unless the user opts in.
